In 1954, in one of the most dramatic confrontations of the Senate-Army hearings, Army counsel Joseph N. Welch assailed Senator Joseph R. McCarthy for his attack on a member of Welch's law firm, Frederick G. Fisher.  "Have you no sense of decency?" Welch said.
